Awakening Heart

Our Connection to Nature

A great teacher, healer and sacred space

Nature for me is where I immerse myself in beauty and marvel at the sheer wonder of the divine creativity and genius of what has been dreamt up for us to open our hearts to the joy of life in its mystical infinite forms. It is a clear expression of the divine, not just a backdrop for spiritual life, but a great teacher, healer and sacred space, where our souls feel the joy of its innate connection with God!

As I walk amongst nature I observe that we as a human species are a phenomenon of nature, our bodies come from nature, from stardust, and when we discard them they go back to nature, therefore we are an individual expression of nature itself. For the vast majority of the worlds population they see themselves as separate to nature, and do not realise the harm they do onto the planet by way of exploiting the earths natural resources through greed, polluting the atmosphere, countryside, rivers and oceans, and decimating the woodlands and forests of the world, so what humans do unto nature they ultimately do onto themselves!

Nature is a beautiful way to connect and awaken to the divine within us, through the natural beautiful world we all share. Every tree, flower, breeze, mountain, river reflects divine intelligence and harmony. When we are in nature we tune into this divine harmony, and feel a deeper connection to our own soul!

“The breeze of the divine is always blowing, if you open your heart in nature you will feel it” Paramahansa Yogananda

As you walk within nature it helps you to quieten the restless thoughts of the mind, as you marvel at the diversity of colours, contours, sounds, wildlife, the play of the shadows and light, a moving picture landscape before our very eyes. There is a peace and order to nature, a vibration that resonates with our souls, a sense of happiness and joy emanates from our hearts.

For people that are particularly anxious, or going through a stressful time, or suffering from depression, it is important that you spend time in nature in a quiet natural setting, by the sea, or in a woodland, or sitting on a hill overlooking the green luscious countryside, under the open infinite sky, and breathe in the silence of nature, let mother earth hold and embrace you! For myself whenever I have been troubled, wanting deeper clarification on certain inner and outer matters I always step out into the diversity of nature, it just holds me. I can then breathe and I become one with the beautiful environment around me, and there through being in presence and inner stillness I receive through my intuition the clarification that I was looking for!

We can observe the qualities in nature that are symbolic messages for us, the patience of the trees, the selflessness of the rivers, the perseverance of the growing plants. These qualities reflect divine truths and spiritual principles to cultivate within us. Through being still in our observation we see nature mirrors the laws of God, such as balance, rhythm, service and silent strength!

When one is in nature it is so restorative for our nervous systems, and is a good reset from the busy over stimulating aspects of the modern world! The pure vibration of nature allows the body to regenerate and uplifts the heart. Walking barefoot on mother earth, breathing in fresh air, or simply watching a sunrise or sunset, with the beautiful array of colours on show, is watching the divine in form!

Seek time in nature, where you feel joyful and meditative. In the stillness of the woodland, or the openness of the countryside with its rolling hills and above the infinite sky, we become one with our divine nature, our soul, as we re-remember our oneness with the infinite. I always encourage people to retreat into nature, not to escape life, but return to the connection with your inner divine nature, and know that all of nature is an extension of your true self, you are deep down all of it, nothing is separate from you. The sheer beauty and wonderment of the diverse creativity on display is all part of you, its all symbolic of your own true divine self!

“Behold the joy of the flowers, the song of the birds, the strength of the mountains, and the vastness of the sky, in all these, you will find hints of the divine beloved” — Paramahansa Yogananda
